Hi, and thanks for visiting my blog!
If you are a freelance consultant, or you’d like to be, you’ve come to – what I intend to be – the best place to help you start, build, and grow your business.
Back in 1997 I quit my (quite decent) job – with no clients lined up and no real plan. I don’t recommend that you do it that way, but it certainly does force you to do whatever it takes to survive! Looking back, it would have been much smarter for me to plan my move first, and maybe build up a bit of a business on the side before taking the plunge. From a couple of years after that though, I’ve been earning more than I ever had before, and more importantly, I get to choose my clients and projects, and I have complete flexibility with my time. That means I get to spend more time with my kids, and do other things I enjoy, while working around 20 to 30 hours a week on average.
Sounds great, right? Less work, more flexibility, and more money – so why isn’t everyone a freelance consultant? I think that comes down to two main reasons: first, not everyone is cut out to work for themselves, and second, like anything worthwhile, it takes time and effort to make it work. I’ll expand on all these aspects and more in future posts, but for now let me just say that, if you’re the type of person who would be happy working for themselves, there’s no reason you can’t do it. And this blog will help you get there.
The driving force behind this blog is to enable anyone to quit the rat race and have a better work-life balance. I hope you find it helpful.
